MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Thursday that dialogue and cooperation remain ongoing with the United States, after U.S. President Donald Trump unveiled sweeping new tariffs that did not include Mexico.
She added during a press conference that Mexico being excluded from the general tariffs that Trump announced on Wednesday is good for Mexico.
Mexico’s economy minister Marcelo Ebrard called it a “great achievement” that Mexico got preferential tariff treatment for goods related to the USMCA treaty, also speaking during the president’s daily morning press conference.
He added that Mexico’s goal in the next 40 days is to achieve the best trade conditions possible.
