DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A 42 year old Duluth man is facing a variety of charges for several incidents early on Monday morning.
The man allegedly was running down the hallway of the Zenith apartment building on the 200 block of North 1st Avenue East with a fire extinguisher and pulled the fire alarm.
He then broke into an apartment, stole a firearm and discharged it in the hallway before fleeing.
Officers saw him hiding among the residents evacuating the building and he discarded the firearm. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was apprehended by Duluth Police and taken to a local hospital.
Pending charges include 2nd degree assault, 1st degree burglary, reckless discharge of a firearm, fleeing from officers, tampering with a fire alarm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Police continue to investigate the incident which began earlier when the suspect stole a fire extinguisher and activated the fire alarm at a building in the 300 block of South Lake Avenue.
