ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is expanding spring burning restrictions in the state.
Beginning Tuesday the restrictions on open burning of vegetative debris will apply to Carlton, Itasca and southern St. Louis Counties and starting next Monday in Cook, Lake, Koochiching and northern St. Louis Counties.
The DNR will not issue permits for open burning of brush or yard waste in those counties until restrictions are lifted.
Escaped fire from burning vegetative debris is Minnesota’s number one cause of wildfires and the restrictions will help to reduce that risk.
