DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – This month the Superior National Forest is planning some prescribed fire operations.
There are nearly two dozen areas where the prescribed fires will help to reduce overgrown vegetation and protect infrastructure and natural resources from possible wildfires.
Some of the fires may result in areas that will be closed to the public for several days. Warning signs will be posted before and during the operations and nearby residents may experience some smoke.
Forest Service staff will evaluate the weather before prescribed fires begin and will cancel if conditions are not optimal.
Scheduled prescribed fires are detailed on the Superior National Forest website https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/superior/fire
