DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Twin Ports’ 26 year old music festival begins on Sunday with 177 different bands and performers across 36 different venues through May 4th.
The Homegrown Music Festival will feature a variety of musicians with diverse styles ranging from riff-laden metal, twangy bluegrass, folk-punk, distorted ambient noise, and everything in between. In addition to musicians, there will also be acrobatics and dance performances.
Opening day on Sunday includes a child-friendly showcase at the Lake Superior Zoo starting at 10:15AM. The showcase includes youth musicians and acrobatic performances.
Kala Moria, a member of the Homegrown Steering Committee, says that the Tuesday night show at Amsoil Arena will be especially exciting. Punk band Gnarwals kicks off the night, followed by hip-hop group BOOG3YM3N, dark dance pop band NVR TGTHR, with beatdown-death metal band Torment closing out the night.
Homegrown also has dress-up themes for each night, including Western Wednesday and Eccentric Art Teacher & Gym Coach Thursday.
Week-long passes for Homegrown can be purchased in advance at Globe News in Superior, or at River City Records & Books and Zenith Bookstore in Duluth. A full schedule with a list of venues and performers is available at https://duluthhomegrown.org/
