MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -Two top members Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada’s team were killed in a direct attack in a centric part of the capital, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Tuesday.
Sheinbaum said during her daily press conference that the people likely responsible for their killings were riding on a motorcycle.
“It is a deplorable incident and we are going to give all the support that the mayor may need,” the president added.
In a statement that Brugada shared on X, the government of Mexico City stated that “there will be no impunity, those responsible will be arrested and must face justice.”
Those killed were the mayor’s private secretary, Ximena Guzman, and an adviser to Brugada, Jose Munoz, the statement added.
