PRAGUE (Reuters) – Czech President Petr Pavel has granted pardons to four soldiers facing prosecution for alleged crimes relating to the death of an Afghan soldier, the president’s office said on Wednesday.
“After carefully assessing all the circumstances of this case, the President of the Republic took into account in particular the exceptional nature of the war situation in which the incident under investigation occurred, and the fact that the soldiers are not primarily accused of violent crimes,” his office said.
