DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The National Weather Service Office in Duluth says the hot, dry and breezy conditions on Monday will lead to near critical fire weather conditions for northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.
Southwest winds gusting to 30 miles per hour or higher combined with relative humidity levels of 25 to 35 percent could lead to a rapid spread of wildfires.
No open burning is recommended and restrictions are in effect. Check with the Minnesota or Wisconsin DNR’s for more information.
Meanwhile, air quality alerts remain in effect for much of the area through Monday for smoke from Canadian wildfires.
There is a chance for showers and thunderstorms Monday night and Tuesday with cooler temperatures and a wind shift from the southwest to the northwest.
