ST. PAUL, MN (MNN) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has called for a Special Session on Monday.
The Governor and the narrowly divided Legislature have reached a deal on the state budget. Some of the bills that will be addressed include those related to medical care for undocumented residents, consumer protection, and transportation financing.
Legislators have until Tuesday morning to reach a compromise on the bills for the two-year spending plan.
Budget bills must be signed into law by July 1st; otherwise, a significant portion of the state government will face a shutdown.
Meanwhile, Minnesota House leaders are confirming the bonding bill will be added to the special session agenda. Republican House Speaker Lisa Demuth says the bonding bill is for $700 million dollars, with $250 million earmarked for roads and wastewater.
