DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for Park Point and Wisconsin Point beaches starting at 10 a-m Thursday.
Strong winds and high wave action will result in the possible formation of rip currents and dangerous swimming conditions.
Incoming waves in rapid succession can tire even an experienced swimmer quickly and rip currents can pull you further into the water. If caught in a rip current, swimming parallel to the shore can allow you to escape.
A small craft advisory is also in effect for western Lake Superior from Two Harbors to Duluth and from Duluth to Port Wing.
Northeast winds gusting to 30 miles per hour and 3 to 6 foot waves are expected from noon Thursday and again on Friday morning.
