DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Health has issued Water Contact Not Recommended advisories for three north shore beaches on Lake Superior.
The Burlington Bay Beach in Two Harbors, the Stewart River Beach at the mouth of the river north of Two Harbors and the Twin Points Public Access Beach north of Gooseberry Falls State Park all showed elevated levels of E. coli bacteria in the water.
The high bacteria levels indicates the possible presence of fecal contamination and contact with the water should be avoided.
The beaches are re-sampled on a regular basis and the latest information can be found online at MNBeaches.org
