UNDATED (KDAL) – There will be a lot to do in the Twin Ports to celebrate the 4th of July all week long.
Adding to the yearly events on the 4th, the U-S Navy will mark their 250th birthday by bringing Navy Week to Duluth and Superior starting Monday. Part of a nationwide outreach effort, this is one of 15 Navy Week programs around the country that feature performances, educational events and service projects.
U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Mike Brown will be touring Minnesota Power’s historic Thomson Hydroelectric facility in Carlton on Monday.
The Navy Band Great Lakes will perform at the Bong Veterans Center in Superior on Tuesday afternoon and will also be at several Duluth Huskies baseball games, the Depot in Duluth on July 3rd and the 4th of July Parade in Superior on Friday.
Navy Week wraps up with the Blue Angels performing at the Duluth Air Show on the 5th and 6th.
On July 4th, the annual parade in Superior begins at 11 a-m on Belknap Street, followed at noon by a car show on Tower Avenue and then a celebration with food, music and fireworks at Barker’s Island from 4 to 11 p-m.
The Duluth FourthFest at Bayfront Festival Park opens at 1:30 Friday with a variety of live entertainment and a demonstration by the U-S Navy Leap Frogs Parachute Team. FourthFest wraps up with a fireworks display over the Duluth Harbor at about 10 p-m.
Bayfront will also be featuring two concerts during the week. Hairball on Thursday and Trampled By Turtles on Saturday.
