HIBBING, MN (KDAL) – 21 year old Ashley Rose Cook was sentenced to four years in prison in connection with the Hibbing overdose death of Isaiah Lamar Deegan in July of 2023.
Cook pleaded guilty to 2nd degree manslaughter at a hearing in May.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Deegan’s cause of death was the toxic effects of fentanyl and ethanol.
An investigation by Hibbing Police discovered that Cook sold the drugs to Deegan when they met at a Gilbert gas station.
The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office says the sentence sends a clear message that law enforcement is committed to apprehending, prosecuting and convicting those involved in the illegal drug trade.
