SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will begin work on the Bong Bridge Monday.
The project will require lane closures for several months and the sidewalk on the bridge will be closed for two to three weeks.
The on and off ramps on the Minnesota side of the bridge may be closed during certain stages of the work that is expected to last into the fall.
Crews will be spot painting on the main span, making concrete repairs, placing concrete sealer on the deck and replacing rubber strip membranes on the main span joints. Light poles will also be replaced.
One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open during the project and some congestion is possible during high traffic periods.
