DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A celebration to mark the completion of the Munger Landing Remediation Project was held on Tuesday.
Representatives from the City of Duluth, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency gathered at the Clyde Avenue location on the St. Louis River.
The project began in 2022 and dredged about 100 thousand cubic yards of sediment from the landing, channel and wetlands in the area.
The dredged material was replaced by a layer of clean sand. Invasive species were removed and replaced by native plants and underwater areas were restored for fish spawning.
The boat ramp and fishing pier were replaced and a paddle sport launch area was created.
