MINNEAPOLIS, MN (KDAL) – The Nature Conservancy has planted 2.5 million tree across six northern Minnesota counties this year.
Partnering with the U-S Forest Service and the Minnesota DNR, the trees were planted on public lands across 5800 acres in Cook, Lake, St. Louis, Itasca, Cass and Carlton Counties.
The Nature Conservancy planted 14 different species of trees, all of which are native to the area and climate hardy and include white pine, jack pine, white spruce, red oak and yellow birch.
2025 marks the second consecutive year that the program has planted more than 2 million tree seedlings in the state.
