NEW DELHI (Reuters) -India’s wholesale prices in July fell 0.58% year-on-year, from a 0.13% decline in the previous month, dragged down by a drop in food prices, government data showed on Thursday.
Economists polled by Reuters had projected the wholesale price index to fall 0.3% year-on-year in July.
KEY NUMBERS
* Wholesale food prices in July fell 2.15% year-on-year, compared with a 0.26% decline in June.
* Vegetable prices in July declined 28.96% year-on-year from a fall of 22.65% in June.
* Prices of manufactured products increased 2.05% year-on-year from 1.97% in June.
* Fuel and power prices fell 2.43% year-on-year, compared to a decline of 2.65% in June.
