SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – The Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival on Barker’s Island in Superior kicks off on Friday afternoon at 4.
The opening ceremony and parade of teams begins at 6:30 with live music starting at 7 p-m.
On Saturday, a pancake breakfast opens at 7 with racing beginning at 8 a-m and continuing through the day.
The annual event is organized by the Superior Rotary Club and since it began in 2002, has raised over 1.3 million dollars for various charitable organizations.
This year’s charitable partner is 23rd Veteran assisting veterans in their transition to civilian life.
Besides the Dragon Boat races, the festival includes live entertainment, a 5-K run, tug of war, a variety of food trucks and a beer garden.
Admission is free, parking in the grassy area next to the island is five dollars.
