LONDON (Reuters) -Britain’s David Lammy will be replaced as foreign minister by interior minister Yvette Cooper, Guardian newspaper Political Editor Pippa Crerar said in a post on X.
If confirmed, the appointment would be the most significant of a ministerial cabinet reshuffle being carried out by Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Local media reports said Lammy would become deputy prime minister and justice minister.
Shabana Mahmood, currently the justice minister, is expected to replace Cooper at the home office – or interior ministry.
The reshuffle was triggered by the resignation of deputy prime minister, Angela Rayner, after she admitted underpaying property tax on a new home.
