DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – An hour and a half after online registrations opened Wednesday night for Grandma’s Marathon weekend races, over 17,500 people had signed up.
The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon sold out in 75 minutes and the William Irvin 5-K was full in 106 minutes.
There were less than 1250 spots left in the expanded field of 9500 for the 50th running of the full marathon.
Those people who were not able to sign up for the half marathon and 5-K are directed to one of Grandma’s Marathon’s 50 charitable partners where entries will be available when fundraising goals are met.
Races are scheduled for the weekend of June 18-20 in Duluth.
Registrations for the marathon will continue until they sell out at grandmasmarathon.com.
