DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert and other state and local leaders gathered for a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the completion of the Twin Ports Interchange project on Monday.
The multi year construction project replaces the former “can of worms” interchange between I-35, I-535 and Highway 53 with a safer, more conventional design that eliminated left exits, blind merges and increased lane continuity.
The new layout also improves freight movement through the Twin Ports.
The interchange will be open to traffic by October 24th with some landscaping work to be completed next year.
