DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office has received new reports of a number of scam calls in the region.
The caller claims to be a member of law enforcement, often from the sheriff’s department, and demands immediate payment for various reasons. They include failing to appear for witness testimony or missed court dates.
Once again, the Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that they do not call community members asking for any type of payment over the phone.
Anyone receiving such a scam call should not make any payment by cash, credit cards or gift cards and never provide your banking information to the caller.
If you receive a scam call and wish to file a police report, you can call 911.
