DULUTH, MN (Northern News Now) -A man has died after being shot by St. Louis County Sheriff deputies Tuesday night on Grand Avenue in Duluth.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident started around 9:40 p.m. when deputies tried stopping a vehicle for reckless driving near Grand and 59th Avenue West.
The vehicle fled and was stopped a short time later at 79th and Grand.
During the incident, shots were fired by two deputies.
The driver of the vehicle was hit and despite lifesaving efforts the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff says a handgun was found in the driver’s seat area of the vehicle.
No officers were hurt in the incident and the Minnesota BCA is now investigating.
