DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has continued the Blizzard Warning for the North Shore until noon on Thursday and has expanded the Warning to the Duluth area in south St. Louis County and Carlton County.
The North Shore from Two Harbors to Grand Marais is expecting between 16 and 24 inches of snow with winds gusting to 60 miles per hour. That will result in “white out” conditions and hazardous travel especially along Highway 61.
Winds in Duluth are also expected to reach 60 mile per hour gusts causing visibility issues, blowing and drifting snow and sporadic power outages. Snow totals in Duluth could reach 5 to 12 inches.
The rest of northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin are under a Winter Storm Warning.
As usual, City of Duluth plow operators are working to clear Priority 1 roads Wednesday morning and remind residents that vehicles need to be on the odd side of the street this week.
