DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – On Monday afternoon, a St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office patrol unit observed a vehicle in the Saginaw area that was wanted by Hibbing Police in connection with a violent assault the previous night.
The vehicle sped off when the officer attempted a traffic stop and a pursuit began eastbound on Highway 2.
During the pursuit the suspect was seen throwing a powdery substance from his vehicle.
The pursuit ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed with two other vehicles at the Highway 2 intersection with Boundary Avenue in Proctor.
The suspect then fled into a nearby wooded area where he was apprehended by deputies using a Taser.
The suspect, a 39 year old man from Duluth, is in the St. Louis County Jail facing multiple felony charges.
Only minor injuries were reported in the three vehicle crash that ended the pursuit.
