DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Public Health Department has launched an awareness campaign about the risks of lead paint exposure.
Lead paint can cause serious health problems, especially for children. Just a small amount of dust from cracked, chipped or peeling lead paint can increase blood lead levels.
The campaign features videos providing important information about lead paint, the risks, how to identify it and what steps to take to avoid exposure.
Families living in older homes built before 1978 should assume that lead paint was used and take precautions. That includes covering the paint with duct tape, contact paper or painting over it with safe materials.
The videos are available on social media and on the website Lead-lessons.com
