MADISON, WI (KDAL) – Last year the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released over 5 million yearling and fingerling fish into inland water bodies and the bordering Great Lakes.
Stocking by the DNR helps to boost natural fish populations, maintain or restore existing fisheries and supports recreational fishing opportunities.
Biologists analyze data collected during surveys to determine which species and the quantity to be stocked.
The data does not include fish stocked by private fish farms, the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service or tribal partners.
