COOK, MN (KDAL) – On Saturday morning, St. Louis County Sheriff Deputies responded to a check welfare request for someone passed out behind the wheel of a parked vehicle on the Johnson Road east of Highway 53 in Cook.
As an ambulance arrived, the driver woke up and sped off driving recklessly.
When the vehicle was located traveling southbound on Highway 53, deputies began a pursuit.
The suspect vehicle hit another vehicle while turning to go northbound on Highway 53 causing minor damage.
The high speed pursuit continued back through the City of Cook when the driver stopped on his own near the Samuelson Road.
The 17 year old male suspect was arrested on charges of fleeing in a motor vehicle, 4th degree DWI, speeding and an open bottle. He was taken to the Arrowhead Regional Corrections Center in Duluth
