DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – 44 year old Derrick Weatherly was sentenced on Thursday to 86 months in prison for providing the drugs that led to the death of a Duluth man.
At a hearing in June, Weatherly pleaded guilty to 3rd degree murder in the overdose death of Christopher Sauve in 2022.
An investigation showed that Weatherly sold the fentanyl laced drugs to the victim.
In the District Court sentencing, Judge Jill Eichenwald denied a motion for a downward departure from sentencing guidelines.
County Attorney Kim Maki says the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office and their law enforcement partners remain committed to holding drug dealers accountable for their actions.
