AMNICON TOWNSHIP, WI (KDAL) – A head-on, wrong way crash on southbound Highway 53 in Douglas County Wednesday afternoon left two people dead.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department says a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes collided with a southbound vehicle between Berg Park Road and Kent Road in Amnicon Township.
The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles and both died in the crash. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
Traffic on southbound Highway 53 in the area was detoured for several hours following the crash that was reported at 2:12 p-m.
