DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The season of holiday giving begins Wednesday from 5 to 8 p-m as the Red Kettle Karnival is held in Bentleyville at Bayfront Festival Park.
Guests at the event are encouraged to bring a new toy or non-perishable food item in exchange for a rare chance to walk into the base of the massive 128 foot high tree.
The Karnival also offers a variety of activities for the whole family and the famous Dutch-oven cobbler prepared by local scouts.
Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert will be there to make the first Salvation Army Red Kettle contribution when the event begins at 5 p-m.
Cyndi Lewis, Development Director for the Duluth Salvation Army, says they are already seeing a significant increase in the number of families needing help. She says the community needs to step up more than ever this season to meet real needs and bring hope to those that are struggling.
