DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A strong storm is expected to arrive in the region on Thursday afternoon with heavy snow and strong winds.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of northern Minnesota and Wisconsin for snow accumulations from 4 to 9 inches and winds gusting to 40 miles per hour.
On the north shore of Lake Superior a Blizzard Warning has been posted for 10 to 15 inches of snow and 45 mile per hour winds.
Both of the warnings are in effect from 1 p-m Thursday to 1 p-m Friday.
Snowfall rates will be intense late Thursday afternoon and evening resulting in hazardous travel with snow covered roads and poor visibilities in the falling and blowing snow. The heavy, wet snow and winds may also cause scattered power outages.
Snow will be ending Friday morning and mostly sunny skies are expected by Friday afternoon with high temperatures in the low 30’s.
