Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar will not travel on the team’s two-game road trip due to the facial fractures and corneal abrasion he sustained during Saturday’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.
Bednar will miss the Avalanche’s games on Monday in Calgary and Tuesday in Edmonton after taking a puck to the face early in the third period off the stick of Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar.
Assistant coaches Dave Hakstol and Nolan Pratt will guide the team on the road trip.
Bednar, 54, has a 442-262-75 record (.616) in his 10 seasons coaching the Avalanche. He helped lead the team to a 2022 Stanley Cup title.
