PARIS, Aug 11 (Reuters) – French media have asked the country’s anti-trust watchdog to act on Google’s artificial intelligence-generated article summaries which they say deprive them of traffic, a press trade association body said on Tuesday.
The media have called on the regulator to make a decision similar to the one in July that ordered Meta to put forward a payment plan and resume talks with traditional media that are seeking fees for the use of their content by platforms’ AI tools.
There was no immediate comment from Google regarding the situation.
